Current Focus and Endeavors
The most important thing I can
do is what works. A very wise Jerry D.
Hawthorne (BeneTrac.com) demonstrated that all business must
remain on dry pavement. I remember the
meeting well. I was pontificating on
something useless, and he stood up to tell us the
story of his parents who lived in Oklahoma out on
a farm. His mother would often turn to her
husband to comment about how great it would be
when they finally got to the oiled road (and off
of the muddy dirt road). His point was to
say it's great to have a theory or a new idea, but
its better to stick with what works.
Life is odd, and it would be
difficult
for me to over-emphasize the importance of meeting
the optimistic and risk-taking Dino L. Tagnani in
2001. At the time, our nation had just
experienced 9-11, and I knew my job was in jeopardy from the rapidly
worsening economy. My goal was to find a new
industry where I could stretch beyond my 2001 abilities,
and begin to work for myself. Culturally speaking,
a payday loan has its problem areas, but my
clients all do a good job at being responsible to
society and especially to their customers who keep
them in business..

Felt Brothers Salem Delivery
From before the Revolutionary
War of 1776 to a few years after the War in 1812,
the Felt Brothers of Salem Massachusetts rode the
high seas along the Atlantic seaboard delivering
goods which poured into Salem ports from around
the world. My immediate goal is to
reconstruct a new Salem enterprise based on
history and the delivery mechanism of our time
(the Internet). Salem's early example of
harnessing the power of world merchandising will
be my guide and theme.

Within Salem's famous Phillips
Library lies a treasure trove of original source
documents our greater Felt family wants to
digitize and transcribe. We call them the
Felt Family Papers which occupy approximately 6
linear feet of archive shelf space.

After 10 years of separation
from Utah, my family and I returned in October
2002. By June 2003 we had successfully
resurrected the old Felt family association I had
only heard about as a youth. The experience
has been richly rewarding, and I highly recommend
you do the same thing with your own extended
families as soon as possible.
